Overall the movie is good but I expected it to be darker and more gruesome than comedic.
It’s a career-defining performance
Even though I’m not currently a parent, I can totally resonate with the themes presented. If you have questions about motherhood and female anger, this movie might be insightful. The script is also well written; some of the character dialogues are very sharp.Marielle Heller is truly a talented female director who can turn a seemingly impossible book into a successful movie.Adams is undeniably amazing. This is the best performance I’ve seen from her so far and possibly the best I’ve seen this year. She is wild, brave and funny.
She really commits to the role
The depth of her performance is evident in the intricate facial expressions that convey her anger, joy and pain beautifully. Adams embodies the role of mother with an authenticity that resonates deeply and likely stems from her own real-life experience as a mother. This personal connection elevates her performance, making it feel relatable and real. I can’t help but feel a strong connection between her portrayal and my own mother, as if she captures the essence of motherly love and sacrifice in a way that really speaks to me. This movie is divisive so far.
No, not really
I’ve seen some people dismiss her performance, and many feel that Adams shouldn’t win or even be nominated for this odd role. For me, acting awards are always based on performances, not films. She is the vehicle of the film. She should definitely be nominated or even win. Passion should not disappear.
Also, Scoot McNiry is fantastic as well
